[ when riku wakes up on the morning of his birthday, he'll be assaulted by stellaluna carrying a package. inside, he'll first find this hideous looking pillow pilfered from the house of the rich guy they broke in to use the bath that one night.

but before he goes to side-eye rep, stellaluna will lead him to another part of his apartment where his real present is hidden: a swiss army knife tucked into a leather sheath.

there's no note or card. he'll just have to guess who it's from.

also he trained stella to find riku and screech the happy birthday song every few hours until he remembers to eat. you're welcome. ]

[ at first, he just thinks it's virgil playing some sort of prank on him for halloween. sheesh, what a weirdo.

and man, that is hideous. he lets stellaluna lead him as per the norm; it's more of a surprise she leads him where she does, and he's shocked at the gift itself.

and irritated at that birthday song. a hushed who taught you that?! can be heard even outside of the hallway before he grumbles, going to eat.

it's already zombie hour by the time he's actually tracked virgil down, casting blizzard and blizzaga interchangeably. ]

[ he doesn't need to turn around to know that it's riku, which triggers the biggest eye roll of all eye rolls while he slices the head off a zombie. ]

Nice roll.

[ riku doesn't do many jump-attacks anymore, but once the last one's out of his way, he exhales, and turns, grabbing the back of his shirt. ]

Hey. [ after a moment, he exhales, scrubs his face, and reaches at his back, showing him a shield. it's pointed and about two feet in length; it smells like oak and is carved with a symbol in the center. around the lip of the shield is gold paint, the rest just polished. ]
